Mercedes-Benz M651 1.8 | 2.1 diesel engines may suffer from problems requiring timing chain replacement.
The M651 timing chain is located at the rear of the engine (flywheel side), which makes chain replacement difficult.
To avoid having to completely disassemble the engine, the new chain must be attached to the old chain and "rolled" onto the engine sprockets while rotating the crankshaft.
The 829124 timing chain mounting bridge helps guide the new chain into place while the old chain is removed, keeping the new chain in contact with the sprocket.
Note:
829124 must be used together with the cam locking tools included in the 829120 M651 engine timing kits.
