A comprehensive kit used for disassembling and assembling the vibration damper in the listed applications.
The vibration damper on VAG 1.8 | 2.0 TFSi | TSi engines is fastened with a single central bolt.
The pulley presses the crankshaft timing-chain sprocket against the end of the crankshaft; there is no traditional keyway, and the sprocket is not supported by the crankshaft. If the pulley bolt is removed without using 829122, the crankshaft sprocket can easily separate from the crankshaft, resulting in loss of timing position.
829122 is the necessary kit required to maintain engine timing when removing the front vibration damper, and it should be used every time the vibration damper is removed, for example when replacing the front crankshaft seal.
Please note: replacing the camshaft drive chain will require an additional tool - see Sonic Equipment 829066 Engine Timing Kit.
829122 can also be used on earlier engines, since the VW T10531 tool replaces the older T10368 tool.
